The Cliffs of Moher was just extraordinary, the weather was just perfect for their Irish elopement in this wonderful creation of nature know to locals as Hags Head.
Katie & Corey’s Irish elopement was one of a kind, the love and joy are evident in their smiles. The absolutely spectacular (and windy!) Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare did not disappoint. When Katie & Corey first contacted me all the way from Boston she told me how she just wanted a laid-back and intimate ceremony that she could share with her friends and family once home. They decide to do a first look at the top of the Cliff just before their ceremony, this was filled with laughs & tears from both. Keeping with the Irish traditions, Corey gave Katie a Clodagh ring to wear but that was not the only Irish tradition they followed.
When it was time to read their vows to each other, I couldn’t help but cry as I listened to each promise made. But there were also Many laughs, we found out that Corey and Katie didn’t hit it off straight away. Corey thought Katie talked way too much and distracted him from his work. We also discovered he proposed on a box of chicken nuggets, and Katie said it couldn’t have been better, we believe her.
Another Irish tradition they incorporated was the handfasting ceremony, this is an ancient tradition, in ancient Celtic times, when a couple decided they wanted to marry in Ireland they came together for a handfasting ceremony. They held hands and a ribbon was tied around their clasped hands. Katie & Corey didn’t just use any cord, they made it together and personalised it with many charms.
